Frank Miller's run on Daredevil redefined the character for decades, with Matt Murdock 's life took a much darker turn. Miller first got a shot at drawing Daredevil in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #27-28 before taking over as penciller on DD's own title with Daredevil #158 . From there, Matt would face a much more psychotic Bullseye , almost have his secret identity revealed by Ben Urich and take a severe beating from the Hulk . When Miller became the series writer with Daredevil #168 , it was a whole new ball game. He immediately introduced Elektra , pushed Bullseye further into insanity, pitted the Kingpin against DD for the first time, introduced Stick and the Hand , brought the Matt into the Punisher 's line of fire for the first time and subjected him to the worst pain and misery the character had ever felt.
