With the imminent release of the ' Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse ' animated film, I figured it was worth looking back at the comics that inspired it. Dan Slott's Spider-Man run certainly had its share of controversy and divided the opinions of many fans. And, while I certainly didn't think it was all gold, there were some real stand out story arcs. Slott's stories shined brightest when he told the kinds of stories you can only tell in the comics medium. And with so many games, cartoons and films based on these characters, I truly believe it's important to underline what makes the medium that spawned them so great at every given opportunity.
