MYS-TECH WARS (1993)

Everyone knows corporations are evil. Every single one of them. Mys-Tech are no exception. Especially as their board made a deal with Mephisto for power and immortality in exchange for the funnelling of souls straight into his dimension way back in 987AD. The deal's done alright for them over the years, but now they want out...

In recent weeks, the London-based chemical company has made a number of super-powered enemies whose origins tie directly into their own magickal activities. Now all of those new foes - from the UK-based Dark Angel, Motormouth, Killpower and the Knights of Pendragon to the time-travelling Death's Head - are about to come after them all at once. And they're bringing the Avengers, X-Men and more! Mys-Tech are growing a perfect replica of the real planet Earth called the UnEarth. Once it's fully-grown, they'll tinker with it to suit their needs and replace the original with a world they control.

Marvel UK's line of titles didn't last especially long, possibly because it relied too heavily on American guest-stars and didn't always have much quality control. However, it did introduce a number of artists and writers to the mainstream, including Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch and Salvador Larroca.

Dark Angel #9 (tie-in)
The Angel of Death takes Dark Angel on a journey through the fabric of the cosmos and learn of Mys-Tech's campaign to win back their freedom from Mephisto by reclaiming the soul of their deceased board member, Ranulph Haldane (Dark Angel's father). With help from the Wyrd Sisters, the Angel of Death scares Mys-Tech out of Hell by pretending to be Mephisto. Dark Angel rescues her father's soul, reuniting him with his original, untainted soul. Mys-Tech send their robot DOGs (Discover Observe Gather) after her, following her from her Darkmoor home to Westchester, New York where she first met the X-Men...

Motormouth & Killpower #9
Motormouth helps Killpower escape Mys-Tech (despite him not realising they're bad guys) by grabbing a bunch of hi-tech weapons and teleporting to the Crossroads of Time. The Time Guardian warns them not to mess with the timestream, so they jump to the age of Julius Caesar and do exactly that. Elsewhere, Cable and Badhand defeat Mys-Tech agent Rook. Nick Fury breaks into Mys-Tech's secret headquarters below London, discovering their giant Un-Earth before he's shot and captured by Algernon Crowe and placed in a magic torture cube...

Dark Angel #10
Dark Angel and the X-Men lure the DOGs to the Danger Room where Professor X generates a hologram of her, making them believe they've captured the real thing. Mys-Tech decide to recruit Dark Angel to replace Ranpulpha Haldane and activate the Un-Earth. When it's fully charged, the creature called the Anti-Being will come to life and Earth will be destroyed...

Mys-Tech Wars #1
Mys-Tech's activation of the UnEarth sets off Earth's mystics, including Dark Angel and Doctor Strange. Even the Avengers, Fantastic Four and the Hulk sense something isn't right and rush to Avengers Mansion where Mys-Tech send huge demons to destroy them. In Avalon, the Green Knight screams, alerting the Knights of Pendragon. The UnEarth's activation knocks the time-travelling Death's Head II out of his time jump, making him land on the UnEarth plane. And he's not too happy about it...

Mys-Tech Wars #2
Death's Head slays Mys-Tech's demons in UnEarth's London, disrupting the corporation's plans to merge the two worlds. The UnEarth creates an Antibody that looks exactly like Death's Head. Dark Angel kills the demon in Westchester, but destroys most of the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. Spider-Man, Excalibur, Ghost Rider and Johnny Blaze are all slaughtered by the demon horde. Motormouth and Killpower kill their demon and decide to take the fight to Mys-Tech.

The Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four, Hulk and Doctor Strange gather in London where Dark Angel explains that Mys-Tech's mystic life-energies are woven into the planet and can't be killed under any circumstances for fear of the harm it might do to the world and begin the assault on Mys-Tech's headquarters. Captain America and Wolverine sneak find Nick Fury flayed alive inside the Da Vinci Cube. Mys-Tech send their mercenary Warheads into the UnEarth to kill Death's Head...

Death's Head II #5
The Antibody takes a beating from the real Death's Head and teleports away with the intention of fighting him again, later. The Warheads arrive and interrupt his cup of tea. In Illinois, Dr Evelyn Necker (the creator of the Minion project that became the new Death's Head) is monitoring a madman called Kite as he murders a bunch of truckers.

Knights of Pendragon #12
If the Green Knight dies, the Earth will die with it. Mys-Tech send their agent Skire to deal with the Knights of Pendragon when they arrive on Earth from Otherworld. The Green Knight powers Adam Crown up to help him defeat Skire, then they then make their way to Mys-Tech HQ to join the Avengers and X-Men on the front line...

Warheads #11
The Warheads' Kether Troop are transported to the UnEarth where Death's Head takes one of them captive and forces the Troop to tell him the truth about where he is. The UnEarth isn't just a replica, whatever happens here effects the real world. Confirming their suspicions that Mys-Tech are definitely the bad guys, the Warheads join forces with Death's Head, kill an UnEarth demon and return to the real Earth to fight Mys-Tech...

Mys-Tech Wars #3
Mys-Tech's Psycho-Warriors kill Thor and Cyclops and shoot half of Psylocke's face off. Dark Angel orders the heroes to destroy the Monotrace Core that will sever the UnEarth's link with the real Earth. Captain America and Wolverine somehow believe Motormouth and Killpower are responsible for Nick Fury's death. Motormouth convinces Cap, but Wolverine slicing up Killpower and sends him down a bottomless pit. The Warheads and Death's Head join Dark Angel's showdown with Mys-Tech. Death's Head decapitates Eadmund Porlock and Wolverine guts Algernon Crowe. With two members of the Mys-Tech Board dead, reality is about to die with them...

Mys-Tech Wars #4
Without Mys-Tech keeping the Psycho-Warriors under control, they go berserk and kill Strong Guy, Francesca Grace and the Black Knight. Marvel Girl (Jean Grey) blows her own brains out. Killpower rejoins the fight and helps the heroes get to the Monotrace Core. Dark Angel, Death's Head, Motormouth, Professor X, Doctor Strange and Albion take Mys-Tech's places around the Core and use the UnEarth to reset time by 24 hours.

Outside of time, the Time Guardian notices the efforts of the assembled heroes and considers them contenders for finally defeating Mys-Tech, and only the six of them will remember the events that took place. In the reset timeline, the Board of Directors approach the UnEarth only to find it surrounded by impenetrable energy and the Monotrace Core destroyed. Wolverine and Captain America head Nick Fury off before he can break into Mys-Tech headquarters, convincing him to go for a drink, instead.
Dark Angel #11
The Assassination sends a cadre of Psycho-Warriors to Dark Angel's Darkmoor home. She calls in the X-Men to help defeat them before they get a chance to tell Mys-Tech her secret identity. Dark Angel and the Wyrd Sisters travel to the Astral Wastelands to confront the Anti-Being - the gestalt creature made up of all of Mys-Tech's negativity. Dark Angel figures she can take him down by using positive energy.

Dark Angel #12
If Mys-Tech rule the world, the Anti-Being will become the judge of humanity. Dark Angel's attempt to use positive energy only ends up super-sizing him, so she just banishes him through a dimensional portal and returns to Darkmoor Castle. Three Psycho-Warriors escape the X-Men and inform Mys-Tech that Dark Angel is Shevaune Haldane. The Assassination computer releases the Safehouse robot which initiates global armageddon. Dark Angel channels her father's voice to deactivate the Assassination computer and save the world.

Death's Head II #6-7 (1993)

MARVEL MONSTERS (2005)

One of Marvel's fifth-week events from 2005 centred around the classic Marvel Monsters that would invade the pages of Strange Tales , Journey into Mystery , Amazing Adventures , Tales to Astonish and Tales of Suspense every month, before the age of heroes. While it was an okay event at best, the four one-shots finally established that those behemoths from outer space and other dimensions did actually inhabit the Marvel Universe ! The highlight is the Hulk 's clash with Devil Dinosaur (a character who was first introduced in the 1970s), but we also found out what some of these creatures had been up to since their early '60 debuts, an untold tale of the time some of the Marvel U's more monstrous heroes gathered to fight them and, finally, the introduction of the  Fin Fang Four ! The featured stories aren't connected and most issues also featured reprints of classic Marvel Monster tales. Marvel Monsters: Devil Dinosaur #1 [1/2] Marvel Monsters: Monsters on the Prow...

WHEN MUTANTS CLASH (1967-1968)

When Captain America leaves Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers start to come apart at the seams. If that wasn't enough, two former-members of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants - Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch - are about to leave the Avengers in favour of rejoining their old boss, Magneto . Will there even be a team left? Perhaps they could consider a new member like Dane Whitman -  a guy who can't make up his mind if he's a forward-thinking or an old-school Black Knight .  Magneto has plan to keep an eye on the shipping news and raid boats that pass his mid-Atlantic island base to help finish off his machine that will turn humanity into his mindless slaves.
