MARVEL UNIVERSE: 1963 READING ORDER - Recommended & Essential Reading

The Marvel Universe reading order continues: Highlighting all the key moments, first appearances, crossovers and events in the ideal reading order. This time around, we're introduced to Iron Man, Wasp, Nick Fury, the Avengers and the X-Men! 

As always, I'd like to thank the guys over at www.chronologyproject.com which I use as a basis and work out my own continuity. Those guys have done all the heavy lifting for me!

MCG note: These pages are subject to change and will be constantly updated and added to. If you feel a story has been missed or want to know where tale would sit in continuity, I'm more than happy to add these for you though they may or may not be recommended by me. This guide is aimed more at fans who need help with continuity rather than those already obsessed with it.

More teams are introduced for the first time since the Fantastic Four as the big guns gather together to form the Avengers and an all-new team of mutant teenagers are introduced when we meet the X-Men!

MARVEL MONSTERS (2005)

One of Marvel's fifth-week events from 2005 centred around the classic Marvel Monsters that would invade the pages of Strange Tales , Journey into Mystery , Amazing Adventures , Tales to Astonish and Tales of Suspense every month, before the age of heroes. While it was an okay event at best, the four one-shots finally established that those behemoths from outer space and other dimensions did actually inhabit the Marvel Universe ! The highlight is the Hulk 's clash with Devil Dinosaur (a character who was first introduced in the 1970s), but we also found out what some of these creatures had been up to since their early '60 debuts, an untold tale of the time some of the Marvel U's more monstrous heroes gathered to fight them and, finally, the introduction of the  Fin Fang Four ! ANNIHILATION (2005-2007)

Some of the major cosmic powers in the Marvel Universe are about to butt heads in a big way. A rift has opened form the Negative Zone into the positive matter universe and Annihilus plans to take full advantage.
