SUB-MARINER VERSUS THE HUMAN RACE! (1963)

Despite starting out as an enemy of the human race, particularly the United States, in his earliest Golden Age appearances, Namor the Sub-Mariner would join the fight against the Nazis alongside Captain America and the original Human Torch during World War II. When he returned to comics in the pages of Fantastic Four, the Sub-Mariner started out as one of their recurring enemies.

Namor fought the Fantastic Four in his first modern appearance, then teamed up with Doctor Doom, preyed on the FF's bankruptcy and tackled the modern Human Torch alone. But he's about to step up his threat level by declaring all of humanity as his enemy as his search for lost Atlantis finally comes to a head.

This story acts as the official first modern appearance of Atlantis, Lady Dorma and the Atlanteans and introduces Lord Krang and Thakor...

The FF return to the surface, leaving Namor to continue the search for lost Atlantis...

Having found his fellow Atlanteans, Namor the Sub-Mariner reclaims his place as their king and the affections of Lady Dorma from Lord Krang who believed Namor was dead. Before the United Nations, Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards) proclaims Atlantis to be a credible threat, igniting a war with them. Reed ends the war by dehydrating the Atlantean soldiers. Namor kidnaps the Invisible Girl (again!) and, when she nearly drowns, he chooses her over Dorma. Namor takes Sue to a surface hospital and returns to the sea only to find the Atlanteans have disappeared, branding him a traitor and an outcast. MARVEL MONSTERS (2005)

One of Marvel's fifth-week events from 2005 centred around the classic Marvel Monsters that would invade the pages of Strange Tales , Journey into Mystery , Amazing Adventures , Tales to Astonish and Tales of Suspense every month, before the age of heroes. While it was an okay event at best, the four one-shots finally established that those behemoths from outer space and other dimensions did actually inhabit the Marvel Universe ! The highlight is the Hulk 's clash with Devil Dinosaur (a character who was first introduced in the 1970s), but we also found out what some of these creatures had been up to since their early '60 debuts, an untold tale of the time some of the Marvel U's more monstrous heroes gathered to fight them and, finally, the introduction of the  Fin Fang Four ! The featured stories aren't connected and most issues also featured reprints of classic Marvel Monster tales. Marvel Monsters: Devil Dinosaur #1 [1/2] Marvel Monsters: Monsters on the Prow...
