Tales to Astonish #77[1/2]
Namor the Sub-Mariner's plan for a peaceful visit to the surface-world is interrupted by an experimental drilling operation headed up by Dr Hank Pym (formerly known as both Ant-Man and Giant-Man) which causes tremors throughout Atlantis. In the hope of preventing the release of the monstrous Behemoth from beneath the undersea kingdom, Namor 'peacefully' destroys the ship's drill. Boarding the ship in an effort to explain himself, Namor faces Pym and a cadre of military personnel ready to shoot...

Tales to Astonish #78[1/2]
Pym tries to stop a soldier from firing, but the rifle hits an oxygen tank and fire breaks out. Pym sends his girlfriend, Janet van Dyne (aka, the Wasp), to find the Avengers and get help. Pym blames Namor, but he seems distracted and leaves the ship under the control of the Puppet Master who manipulates him into robbing a bank. Namor steals bonds rather than cash, so Puppet Master sends him back for the money. This time, more armed military personnel are waiting for him...
Avengers #26
The Wasp has a lie down in the sea, only to get herself captured by Attuma who believes she's a spy who's rumbled his plan to use a machine to increase the sides of the tide and drown the surface-world. The Wasp escapes her cell and gets a message to the Avengers who head in her direction without Hawkeye who's busy womanising. The team board Attuma's sub, but the lack of oxygen and extreme humidity make them easier to defeat. Attuma fights them again with fairer odds after goading from his Atlantean henchmen, only for the Scarlet Witch to flood the chamber. Hawkeye tries to find out where his teammates are, but has forgotten the security codes for the messaging system...

Tales to Astonish #79[1/2]
The mind-controlled Namor escapes the soldiers' gunfire and returns to the sea to heal. The Atlantean-built Behemoth defence mechanoid rises and rampages, so Lady Dorma goes to the surface to find Namor who has regained control of himself since hitting the water. They return to Atlantis to face the giant creature, unaware that the exiled Lord Krang is recruiting the Puppet Master for his own purposes...
Tales to Astonish #80[1/2]
The Behemoth was created to protect Atlantis, but given enough sentience to choose not to. Namor tries to use the creature's lack of intelligence against it, but Lord Krang has convinced the Puppet Master to give him the means to control it. Namor sends eels to attack the Behemoth, severing the link to Krang. Namor defeats the uncontrolled Behemoth, thanks to out-of-control currents (probably caused by Attuma) and Krang quickly heads to Atlantis to convince Lady Dorma to leave, promising he'll end the Behemoth's threat. Dorma reluctantly agrees and, when Namor returns to Atlantis, Vashti the Elder reveals she's left to marry Krang.

Avengers #27
Hawkeye is attacked by the Beetle in Avengers Mansion. Once he's defeated, he borrows a jet-sub from the Fantastic Four and heads below sea. He finds Quicksilver bobbing on the surface and takes him back down to free the other two Avengers. The team defeat the Atlanteans and turn their own weapons against them before escaping. Captain America sets the controls of the tidal device so that it sucks in Attuma's ship, destroying both. The team return to Avengers Mansion and find a message from Dr Hank Pym...
Avengers #28
The Wasp has been kidnapped by the Collector. Hank Pym visits the Avengers, explaining her can only grow for no more or less than 15 minutes or he risks damaging his health. He dons a new costume designed by the Scarlet Witch and becomes Goliath in order to rescue the Wasp. The team are quickly defeated in the Collector's castle, but Goliath uses his powers to break free and the Avengers defeat the brain-washed Beetle. With the Wasp freed, the Collector uses a time travel device to escape with the Beetle. Goliath realises he stayed large too long and the attempt to shrink back down leaves him unconscious...

Avengers #29
Goliath regains consciousness but is permanently stuck at 10 feet tall. The Black Widow is brain-washed by an asian communist and sent to destroy the Avengers. Hawkeye is defeated before she, along with Power Man (Erik Josten) and the Swordsman invade Avengers Mansion. Goliath uses his size to help defeat the villains, but they escape when Hawkeye can't bring himself to fire upon the Widow. Despite the win, Goliath is depressed that he doesn't fit in a car.

X-MEN READING ORDER: Children of the Atom (1963-1970)

Who knew they'd end up being one of Marvel's biggest franchises? The X-Men (originally intended to be launched as 'The Mutants') were created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee and really focused heavily on the Marvel vibe of teenage outsiders. Despite the presence of regular nemesis Magneto (now one of Marvel's premiere villains), interactions with the rest of the Marvel Universe and a career-defining run by artist Neal Adams, the teens didn't really click with the audience and the series was cancelled after 66 issues. It ran as a reprint title, rerunning its own stories until issue 94. In this reading order, I've listed every appearance of the five X-Men members - along with their mentor, Professor X - from their first appearance right up to their cancellation. Their defining moments and key interactions with Spider-Man , the Avengers , Fantastic Four and other receive the spotlight treatment, but you can pick and choose whatever you want to read. It's up

WRAITH WAR (1984-1985)

Countless years ago, the Celestials messed about with the Skulls ' gene pool and, among other things, created an offshoot of Deviant Skrulls called Dire Wraiths . These warped and murderous magic users were chased off their home to the world and found a new home in the Dark Nebula , naming their new home Wraithworld . Then, just two hundred years ago, the Dire Wraiths invaded Galador , only to get their saggy arses kicked across the universe by the Galadorian Spaceknights . The Spaceknights spread out across the galaxies, hunting the Dire Wraiths as they tried to invade other planets. One such cyborg Spaceknight, Rom , came to Earth to end the threat they posed to our world. Most people perceived Rom as a rampaging alien toaster-bot, as the Wraiths used magic to disguise themselves as human and Rom lost a little of his humanity over the centuries.  But he'd run into many of Earth heroes during his time on Earth, and made friends with serial sidekick Rick Jones and found lov
