THE REVENGE OF THE LADY LIBERATORS (2008-2009)

Red Hulk gave She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters) a humiliating beating when he invaded the SHIELD Helicarrier (during GREEN HULK/RED HULK). Now, Shulkie's looking for revenge and to learn the identity of her rage-red attacker. And to do it, she's going to call on some of her female super-buddies from around the Marvel Universe.

The Lady Liberators were originally a ploy by the Enchantress to ruin the Avengers. Now, She-Hulk's taking the name and using it on her all-woman revenge mission....

Hulk #8[2/2]
Valkyrie's winged horse, Aragorn, swoops in and saves She-Hulk while Thundra and Valkyrie give Red Hulk an unexpected beating. She-Hulk drops back in to smash him and Valkyrie runs him through with her sword. It look slike it's all over 'til Red Hulk stands right back up again and threatens to chop their heads off with the sword he's just pulled from his chest. At that moment, the Invisible Woman shows up with Black Widow, Hellcat, Spider-Woman, Storm and Tigra...

Hulk #9[2/2]
The Lady Liberators are out for blood and don't hold back when they assault the Red Hulk. She-Hulk, Storm and the Invisible Woman provide the finishing move, leaving Red Hulk unconscious. Now all they have to do is wait until he turns back to human form to discover his identity. Unfortunately, the big guy was faking it and waits until most of the Liberators have given up the wait before breaking out of Thundra's chains and leaping away, taking Thundra captive. Surprisingly, Red Hulk offers her a job, which she cleary accepts while the rest of her team are busy repairing Lincoln's head.

MARVEL MONSTERS (2005)

One of Marvel's fifth-week events from 2005 centred around the classic Marvel Monsters that would invade the pages of Strange Tales , Journey into Mystery , Amazing Adventures , Tales to Astonish and Tales of Suspense every month, before the age of heroes. While it was an okay event at best, the four one-shots finally established that those behemoths from outer space and other dimensions did actually inhabit the Marvel Universe ! The highlight is the Hulk 's clash with Devil Dinosaur (a character who was first introduced in the 1970s), but we also found out what some of these creatures had been up to since their early '60 debuts, an untold tale of the time some of the Marvel U's more monstrous heroes gathered to fight them and, finally, the introduction of the  Fin Fang Four ! The featured stories aren't connected and most issues also featured reprints of classic Marvel Monster tales. Marvel Monsters: Devil Dinosaur #1 [1/2] Marvel Monsters: Monsters on the Prow...

ISLAND OF THE DAMNED (1972)

It's Halloween, so how's about a little old school werewolf action ?  Around this time, Marvel had a tendency to try new characters out in titles like Marvel Spotlight or Marvel Premiere , then give them their own series if they proved to be popular. However, the characters' first issues often carried on the story from those other books, so you'd pick up issue 1 only to find yourself in the middle of an ongoing tale (for other examples, see Captain Marvel in THE COMING OF CAPTAIN MARVEL or Adam Warlock in COUNT-DOWN FOR COUNTER-EARTH ). In the Werewolf By Night 's case, this little two-parter featuring his search for the Darkhold  would flow from Marvel Spotlight into his very own ongoing series. Jack Russell has only recently discovered his true family legacy and that Phillip Russell , the man he believed to be his father, is actually his uncle. His biological father, Baron Gregory Russoff (Phillip's brother), was a magic user and werewolf. Jack inherite...
