Having made the jump from Earth-295 (at the end of the THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE) to Earth-616 (the mainstream Marvel Universe, as revealed during HAVOK'S FALL), the Dark Beast (the AoA version of Hank McCoy) has put a plan into action to replace his alternate universe counterpart, the Beast of the uncanny X-Men. After gleaning information on the Beast's past from some of his closest associates, then killing them, Dark Beast stops short of killing Beast's parents.
Meanwhile, our Beast is getting closer to discovering a cure for the mutant-killing Legacy Virus (released at the end of X-CUTIONER'S SONG) and has been shutting himself in his lab as he becomes more obsessed. Hank returns to his old lab at the run-down Brand Corporation building where he discovers someone has been copying his research and doing better at finding a cure than he is. He's jumped by the Dark Beast, who now resembles him completely. Dark Beast chains the Beast up and builds a brick wall to hide him further, but refuses to reveal his origins or true agenda...

Cyclops, Storm, Iceman and Wolverine regain consciousness in a strange place, clearly having been battered. Iceman is even missing a chunk from his chest. They discover a new mutant called Post is behind it all. Claiming to be the herald of Onslaught, the weathered X-Men struggle to hold their own against the superhumanly-strong, techno-organically enhanced invulnerable mutant.
Back at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, Gateway is taken down by Bishop and Phoenix (Jean Grey) when he appears before Professor X (Charles Xavier), seemingly wanting to be brought down for transporting the other four X-Men away. 'Beast' (actually the Dark Beast in disguise) figures the four X-Men are being tested by Onslaught. Xavier is somehow able to sense the moment when the quartet use their powers in new ways to beat Post back before they're teleported back to the Xavier Institute. Onslaught psychically warns the X-Men that they barely passed his test and he is coming...
Uncanny X-Men #331
An explosion in the Beast's lab destroys all of his Legacy Virus research. Archangel decides to take a leave of absence from the X-Men to recover from the injuries inflicted by Sabretooth (during IN THE RED ZONE). Iceman tries to convince Emma Frost to show him how to use his powers the way she did when she inhabited his body. In the end, she convinces him to make the leap and learn for himself, which he does. Iceman finds his body is restored. Cyclops and Phoenix investigate the area where the team fought Post to see if it's the source of Onslaught's power as they suspected, but there's no sign of battle.
Fantastic Four #414
The Fantastic Four have been reunited with young Franklin Richards who has been returned to the present by Nathaniel Richards (after having been replaced by an alternate future Franklin Richards during FOUR NO MORE!). Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards) decides to confront his evil future grandson, Hyperstorm. The Human Torch's suspicions about his girlfriend, Laura Green, and the Skrull called Lyja are put on hold as the team head off to face their all-powerful enemy. Reed's plan to free Galactus from the Negative Zone and have him permanently feed on Hyperstorm's limitless power works, also ending Galactus' need to consume planets. While the FF are away, young Franklin makes a new friend; a boy called Charlie who wants to unlock his full potential...
Cable #32 *
Cable and Domino return to Camp Hayden to look for any clues that might reveal Onslaught's identity (following a mission with X-Force during FALLEN FROM GRACE). They're repeatedly attacked by robotic defenses while Domino tries to provoke Cable into talking about his feelings regarding Wolverine killing his 'son', Genesis (during STONE COLD DEATH). The defenses are operated by Post who's testing Cable's diminished abilities following his confrontation with Nate Grey (also during FALLEN FROM GRACE). They discover a chip that should hold footage of Onslaught, but it's rendered useless by Post whose presence is never discovered. In Maryland, an explosion destroys Blaquesmith's battleship headquarters is blown to pieces with Cable's mentor still on board...

A week ago, Nate Grey fought Cable and Exodus, only for Cable to save his life (during FALLEN FROM GRACE). Nate is woken up in an infirmary by Threnody and accidentally unleashes her explosive powers. Elsewhere, Madelyne Pryor makes the most of Selene's hospitality while wondering about her forgotten past. A week later, Onslaught soundly defeats Sebastian Shaw and takes Holocaust as his own agent. Holocaust is sent to retrieve Nate Grey for his new master...

Nate Grey recovers on a beach in Greece with Threnody when he's attacked by Holocaust. Instead of retrieving Nate with subtlety, Holocaust sees this as the chance for a rematch (following their clash in their native reality during THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE). Several innocents are injured while they fight, but Nate finally agrees to surrender when Holocaust threatens to kill Threnody. In Paris, Maddie Pryor discovers Selene's vampiric nature when she comes home all powered up from feasting on the Externals (after FALLEN FROM GRACE).

Nate takes over Threnody's mind and makes her unleah her death powers on Holocaust. Their renewed battle causes more chaos until Holocaust's armour is ripped open, forcing him to retreat. Unaware that Threnody chose to end an innocent life to directly absorb death energy, Nate still trusts her implicitly. But he needs more help and decides to turn to the Avengers. In Paris, Maddie tracks down Trevor Fitzroy of the Upstarts for Selene and she takes the chance to have her revenge on him for torturing her as she makes her bid to claim the Hellfire Club...

Professor X repairs Cerebro (after its destruction during PHALANX COVENANT) and immediately picks up multiple mutant signatures on a train in New Jersey. Gambit, Bishop and 'Beast' rush to investigate and discover a plague that's mutating humans on the train. 'Beast' has taken his place among the X-Men to hide from Mister Sinister, only to discover he's behind it all. Gambit uses his powers to turn the train into a moving bomb as it hurtles towards Manhattan. Professor X alerts the Mutant Underground to take drastic measures to stop Graydon Creed (mutant-hating son of Sabretooth and Mystique) from being elected President of the United States...
X-Men #52
Bishop absorbs Gambits energy, somehow making the train stop. Sinister takes the three X-Men prisoner who probes Bishop's mind, learning of his arrival from the future (during MUTANT GENESIS), his mission to stop a traitor to the X-Men and his time spent in a dark alternate timeline (during THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE). Gambit breaks free, destroys all of Sinister's genetic samples of other mutants and breaks out his fellow X-Men. Sinister teleports to safety and 'Beast' notices Gambit knows an awful lot about Sinister's operations. The train incident is investigated by a shadowy government employee called Bastion. Having left the X-Men, Rogue rents a room with a mother and son in South Carolina, only to discover they're mutant-haters and become suspicious of her.

Gambit and Phoenix attend a demonstration at the Pentagon headed up by the man called Bastion, discussing the mutant threat and the existence of Onslaught. Bastion's proposed solution is Operation: Zero Tolerance. Bastion is aware of Phoenix and Gambit's true identities, but they avoid capture and receive unexpected help from Onslaught, though only Phoenix is aware. An intimidating spectre looms over Archangel and Psylocke in Colorado, begging for help. Senator Robert Kelly secretly summons Cyclops to his Virginia home to discuss Operation: Zero Tolerance and its connection to the Sentinel building Project: Wideawake. The building is attacked by agents of Graydon Creed...

X-Force break into the SHIELD Helicarrier to rescue the captured Cyclops. Dum Dum Dugan's authority (following the death of Nick Fury during OVER THE EDGE) is overruled by Bastion who takes command of the Helicarrier. Meltdown breaks into SHIELD's files and learns Sabretooth's current location is classified. Cable frees Cyclops and reunites him with Phoenix when X-Force escape the carrier.

Dark Beast gains a sample of Cable's DNA and the techno-organic virus when he gets a check-up on his deteriorating powers. Cable heads to Baltimore Harbour when he learns of the explosion at Blaquesmith's HQ, but is attacked by Post. Cable recalls first meeting Post when he freed him from the Mandarin's base and gave him a blood transfusion to save his life, only to infect him with the TO-Virus. Post stops short to killing Cable because of their shared history, but leaves him beaten and unconscious at the harbour...

An armoured psychic being pulls Jean Grey out of her shopping trip and into the astral plane. He shows her the duality of humans' thoughts, then takes them into Charles Xavier's dark memories and revealing his suppressed love for her. He then reveals the pit of all of Xavier's dark thoughts and tries to convince her to join him. She retaliates with a psychic attack, but he easily crushes it and returns her to reality with his name psychically scrawled across her head... "Onslaught". Elsewhere, the real Beast discovers a possible means of escape. The young Magneto looks for somewhere to eat, but still hasn't regained his memories. And the shadow-being plaguing Archangel and Psylocke breaks back into reality, revealing himself to be the Juggernaut. A secret is locked away in his memory, but he's going to Westchester to unlock it...

When he's reminded of the death of Dennis Hogan (during THE FALL OF AVALON), Xavier finally snaps and realises what Onslaught is. Jean learns his identity at the same time and orders Juggernaut to run, only for him to run straight into Onslaught who rips the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak right out of his chest and stands revealed as Charles Xavier. Elsewhere, the real Beast escapes his chains, but someone stops him from leaving...

A time-traveller called Tyfon appears before Edwin Jarvis, warning him that the Avengers will die today. He prompts Jarvis' memories to run through all of the possible foes behind the potential attack. The Avengers suddenly find themselves fighting foes from throughout their careers, including villains who are meant to be dead. As they're defeated, they turn onto dark matter which starts to surround New York City and spread across the world.
Jarvis realises 'Tyfon' is actually Loki and he's been using Jarvis' memories to create the villains from the dark matter. Jarvis summons the team to Avengers Mansion where they battle the adamantium statues of the original Avengers until the repel Loki's magic and leave him coated in adamantium. Before the team get a chance to rest, the Wasp answers a knock at the door to find Nate Grey announcing that Charles Xavier has gone insane...

Rogue settles into her new 'normal' life until her landlord, Melody Watkins, reports her to Humanity's Last Stand as a possible mutant in order to protect her son. Melody is already regretting her decision when HLS send a cadre of armoured warriors to apprehend Rogue. When she wakes up, Rogue is faced with Bastion and a member of the Trask family. Before Bastion can kill her, Rogue is freed by the young Magneto who has infiltrated Humanity's Last Stand, though she's not so pleased to see him. As Magneto (now calling himself Joseph) clearly can't remember his past, Rogue agrees to join forces with him and reveal Bastion's intentions to sacrifice the humans in the HML commuune to serve his greater purpose. After saving the ungrateful humans and making peace with Melody, Rogue and Joseph make their way towards New York together...

Having made the jump from Earth-295 (at the end of the THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE) to Earth-616 (the mainstream Marvel Universe, as revealed during HAVOK'S FALL), the Dark Beast (the AoA version of Hank McCoy) has put a plan into action to replace his alternate universe counterpart, the Beast of the uncanny X-Men. After gleaning information on the Beast's past from some of his closest associates, then killing them, Dark Beast stops short of killing Beast's parents.
Meanwhile, our Beast is getting closer to discovering a cure for the mutant-killing Legacy Virus (released at the end of X-CUTIONER'S SONG) and has been shutting himself in his lab as he becomes more obsessed. Hank returns to his old lab at the run-down Brand Corporation building where he discovers someone has been copying his research and doing better at finding a cure than he is. He's jumped by the Dark Beast, who now resembles him completely. Dark Beast chains the Beast up and builds a brick wall to hide him further, but refuses to reveal his origins or true agenda...
X-Men #50 *
Cyclops, Storm, Iceman and Wolverine regain consciousness in a strange place, clearly having been battered. Iceman is even missing a chunk from his chest. They discover a new mutant called Post is behind it all. Claiming to be the herald of Onslaught, the weathered X-Men struggle to hold their own against the superhumanly-strong, techno-organically enhanced invulnerable mutant.
Back at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, Gateway is taken down by Bishop and Phoenix (Jean Grey) when he appears before Professor X (Charles Xavier), seemingly wanting to be brought down for transporting the other four X-Men away. 'Beast' (actually the Dark Beast in disguise) figures the four X-Men are being tested by Onslaught. Xavier is somehow able to sense the moment when the quartet use their powers in new ways to beat Post back before they're teleported back to the Xavier Institute. Onslaught psychically warns the X-Men that they barely passed his test and he is coming...
Uncanny X-Men #331
An explosion in the Beast's lab destroys all of his Legacy Virus research. Archangel decides to take a leave of absence from the X-Men to recover from the injuries inflicted by Sabretooth (during IN THE RED ZONE). Iceman tries to convince Emma Frost to show him how to use his powers the way she did when she inhabited his body. In the end, she convinces him to make the leap and learn for himself, which he does. Iceman finds his body is restored. Cyclops and Phoenix investigate the area where the team fought Post to see if it's the source of Onslaught's power as they suspected, but there's no sign of battle.
Fantastic Four #414
The Fantastic Four have been reunited with young Franklin Richards who has been returned to the present by Nathaniel Richards (after having been replaced by an alternate future Franklin Richards during FOUR NO MORE!). Mister Fantastic (Reed Richards) decides to confront his evil future grandson, Hyperstorm. The Human Torch's suspicions about his girlfriend, Laura Green, and the Skrull called Lyja are put on hold as the team head off to face their all-powerful enemy. Reed's plan to free Galactus from the Negative Zone and have him permanently feed on Hyperstorm's limitless power works, also ending Galactus' need to consume planets. While the FF are away, young Franklin makes a new friend; a boy called Charlie who wants to unlock his full potential...
Cable #32 *
Cable and Domino return to Camp Hayden to look for any clues that might reveal Onslaught's identity (following a mission with X-Force during FALLEN FROM GRACE). They're repeatedly attacked by robotic defenses while Domino tries to provoke Cable into talking about his feelings regarding Wolverine killing his 'son', Genesis (during STONE COLD DEATH). The defenses are operated by Post who's testing Cable's diminished abilities following his confrontation with Nate Grey (also during FALLEN FROM GRACE). They discover a chip that should hold footage of Onslaught, but it's rendered useless by Post whose presence is never discovered. In Maryland, an explosion destroys Blaquesmith's battleship headquarters is blown to pieces with Cable's mentor still on board...

A week ago, Nate Grey fought Cable and Exodus, only for Cable to save his life (during FALLEN FROM GRACE). Nate is woken up in an infirmary by Threnody and accidentally unleashes her explosive powers. Elsewhere, Madelyne Pryor makes the most of Selene's hospitality while wondering about her forgotten past. A week later, Onslaught soundly defeats Sebastian Shaw and takes Holocaust as his own agent. Holocaust is sent to retrieve Nate Grey for his new master...

Nate Grey recovers on a beach in Greece with Threnody when he's attacked by Holocaust. Instead of retrieving Nate with subtlety, Holocaust sees this as the chance for a rematch (following their clash in their native reality during THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE). Several innocents are injured while they fight, but Nate finally agrees to surrender when Holocaust threatens to kill Threnody. In Paris, Maddie Pryor discovers Selene's vampiric nature when she comes home all powered up from feasting on the Externals (after FALLEN FROM GRACE).

Nate takes over Threnody's mind and makes her unleah her death powers on Holocaust. Their renewed battle causes more chaos until Holocaust's armour is ripped open, forcing him to retreat. Unaware that Threnody chose to end an innocent life to directly absorb death energy, Nate still trusts her implicitly. But he needs more help and decides to turn to the Avengers. In Paris, Maddie tracks down Trevor Fitzroy of the Upstarts for Selene and she takes the chance to have her revenge on him for torturing her as she makes her bid to claim the Hellfire Club...

Professor X repairs Cerebro (after its destruction during PHALANX COVENANT) and immediately picks up multiple mutant signatures on a train in New Jersey. Gambit, Bishop and 'Beast' rush to investigate and discover a plague that's mutating humans on the train. 'Beast' has taken his place among the X-Men to hide from Mister Sinister, only to discover he's behind it all. Gambit uses his powers to turn the train into a moving bomb as it hurtles towards Manhattan. Professor X alerts the Mutant Underground to take drastic measures to stop Graydon Creed (mutant-hating son of Sabretooth and Mystique) from being elected President of the United States...
X-Men #52
Bishop absorbs Gambits energy, somehow making the train stop. Sinister takes the three X-Men prisoner who probes Bishop's mind, learning of his arrival from the future (during MUTANT GENESIS), his mission to stop a traitor to the X-Men and his time spent in a dark alternate timeline (during THE AGE OF APOCALYPSE). Gambit breaks free, destroys all of Sinister's genetic samples of other mutants and breaks out his fellow X-Men. Sinister teleports to safety and 'Beast' notices Gambit knows an awful lot about Sinister's operations. The train incident is investigated by a shadowy government employee called Bastion. Having left the X-Men, Rogue rents a room with a mother and son in South Carolina, only to discover they're mutant-haters and become suspicious of her.
Uncanny X-Men #333 *
Gambit and Phoenix attend a demonstration at the Pentagon headed up by the man called Bastion, discussing the mutant threat and the existence of Onslaught. Bastion's proposed solution is Operation: Zero Tolerance. Bastion is aware of Phoenix and Gambit's true identities, but they avoid capture and receive unexpected help from Onslaught, though only Phoenix is aware. An intimidating spectre looms over Archangel and Psylocke in Colorado, begging for help. Senator Robert Kelly secretly summons Cyclops to his Virginia home to discuss Operation: Zero Tolerance and its connection to the Sentinel building Project: Wideawake. The building is attacked by agents of Graydon Creed...
X-Force #55
X-Force break into the SHIELD Helicarrier to rescue the captured Cyclops. Dum Dum Dugan's authority (following the death of Nick Fury during OVER THE EDGE) is overruled by Bastion who takes command of the Helicarrier. Meltdown breaks into SHIELD's files and learns Sabretooth's current location is classified. Cable frees Cyclops and reunites him with Phoenix when X-Force escape the carrier.

Dark Beast gains a sample of Cable's DNA and the techno-organic virus when he gets a check-up on his deteriorating powers. Cable heads to Baltimore Harbour when he learns of the explosion at Blaquesmith's HQ, but is attacked by Post. Cable recalls first meeting Post when he freed him from the Mandarin's base and gave him a blood transfusion to save his life, only to infect him with the TO-Virus. Post stops short to killing Cable because of their shared history, but leaves him beaten and unconscious at the harbour...

An armoured psychic being pulls Jean Grey out of her shopping trip and into the astral plane. He shows her the duality of humans' thoughts, then takes them into Charles Xavier's dark memories and revealing his suppressed love for her. He then reveals the pit of all of Xavier's dark thoughts and tries to convince her to join him. She retaliates with a psychic attack, but he easily crushes it and returns her to reality with his name psychically scrawled across her head... "Onslaught". Elsewhere, the real Beast discovers a possible means of escape. The young Magneto looks for somewhere to eat, but still hasn't regained his memories. And the shadow-being plaguing Archangel and Psylocke breaks back into reality, revealing himself to be the Juggernaut. A secret is locked away in his memory, but he's going to Westchester to unlock it...

Having returned to his home reality (after being cast into the Ultraverse during INTO THE BREACH), the Juggernaut arrives at the Xavier Institute and takes out Bishop and Gambit. When he's reminded of the death of Dennis Hogan (during THE FALL OF AVALON), Xavier finally snaps and realises what Onslaught is. Jean learns his identity at the same time and orders Juggernaut to run, only for him to run straight into Onslaught who rips the Crimson Gem of Cyttorak right out of his chest and stands revealed as Charles Xavier. Elsewhere, the real Beast escapes his chains, but someone stops him from leaving...

A time-traveller called Tyfon appears before Edwin Jarvis, warning him that the Avengers will die today. He prompts Jarvis' memories to run through all of the possible foes behind the potential attack. The Avengers suddenly find themselves fighting foes from throughout their careers, including villains who are meant to be dead. As they're defeated, they turn onto dark matter which starts to surround New York City and spread across the world.
Jarvis realises 'Tyfon' is actually Loki and he's been using Jarvis' memories to create the villains from the dark matter. Jarvis summons the team to Avengers Mansion where they battle the adamantium statues of the original Avengers until the repel Loki's magic and leave him coated in adamantium. Before the team get a chance to rest, the Wasp answers a knock at the door to find Nate Grey announcing that Charles Xavier has gone insane...

Rogue settles into her new 'normal' life until her landlord, Melody Watkins, reports her to Humanity's Last Stand as a possible mutant in order to protect her son. Melody is already regretting her decision when HLS send a cadre of armoured warriors to apprehend Rogue. When she wakes up, Rogue is faced with Bastion and a member of the Trask family. Before Bastion can kill her, Rogue is freed by the young Magneto who has infiltrated Humanity's Last Stand, though she's not so pleased to see him. As Magneto (now calling himself Joseph) clearly can't remember his past, Rogue agrees to join forces with him and reveal Bastion's intentions to sacrifice the humans in the HML commuune to serve his greater purpose. After saving the ungrateful humans and making peace with Melody, Rogue and Joseph make their way towards New York together...

Pete Wisdom has discovered a former-fellow British Intelligence operative, Scratch, is behind Douglock's kidnapping and that the London chapter of the Hellfire Club have been bribing Members of Parliament.
